Artist Statement

Cynthia Russakoff

I am a musician with two degrees in piano performance (debuted with the New Orleans Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra at age16) and am also a self taught jewelry artist. For over twenty five years, I have been actively teaching piano and music theory in my private studio. For the past 5 years, I’ve also been learning the art of jewelry making.  I love learning new techniques and my jewelry has many “styles”.   Just as learning music of different styles is most satisfying, the same is true for making jewelry.

Coming from a very strong musical background, I think of jewelry making in a similar way. All of the elements of  harmony, texture, rhythm , form, and color play integral roles in musical composition and in that of my jewelry as well.   There are infinite possibilities for composition in jewelry just as in music. But the spice of creativity is in constantly growing and evolving.

What draws us to a piece of jewelry is an intangible beauty that speaks to us on a deep level.  When we wear it, that beauty is then reflected back to the world.   So no guilt about purchasing jewelry - you are making yourself and the world more beautiful by wearing it!

About the jewelry

I use only the finest materials in my jewelry.  It is meant to last for many years to come.  You will see a detailed description of the materials used in each piece.   I also do commissioned pieces - if you want something special, just drop me an email and I'll work with you to design a one of a  kind piece just for you!
